Bio Liza Ceciel van Jaarsveldt is an Associate Professor at the University of South Africa (UNISA) within the Department of Public Administration and Management. Her current role involves the tution of Reflective Public Administration, Leadership, and Research Methodology. Since commencing her career at UNISA in 2006, she has successfully supervised numerous Master's and Doctoral students to graduation.

Liza's dedication to her profession has been recognized through several accolades, including the UNISA Principles Prize for Excellence in Research (2010), the UNISA Woman in Research – Youngest PhD Award (2011), and the Best Conference Paper Presentation at the ASSADPAM conference (2018). In 2020, she received the UNISA Excellence in Tuition Award. Additionally, Liza has secured funding from the National Research Foundation, notably the Thuthuka Funding, and was a NRF Y2 rated researcher.

Currently, Liza holds the position of project director for Working Group VIII on Public Human Resource Management at IASIA (The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration). As of 2022, she has been elected as a board member and Vice-President responsible for programmes. In 2023, Liza contributed to a Ministerial committee focused on leadership development for the State of Palestine in collaboration with the Palestine National School of Administration. Moreover, she was appointed to the United Nations - Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Task Force for the revision and update of the Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Training and Education.

In terms of research and publications, Liza has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters covering diverse topics in Public Administration education, curriculum development, the skills required by the public service, and the utilization of technology in government and education. She has also served as an international panel member and keynote speaker on various occasions.
