Bio Vassilis Exarchos is an economist and has been serving as President of the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (EKDDA) since April 2025, following his appointment by the Minister of Interior through a competitive selection process. He previously served as Vice-President of EKDDA during the period 2021–2023 and assumed the duties of President of the institution in 2023 and 2024. Vassilis Exarchos has significantly strengthened EKDDA’s international presence through active participation in major global networks of public administration. He was elected Member of the Steering Committee of the European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) — the main European scientific community in the field — contributing to the strategic orientation and scientific agenda of the organisation. Additionally, he was elected to the Board of Management of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), where he serves as Vice-President for the Region of Europe for the 2025–2028 term, promoting academic cooperation, capacity building, and international dialogue on administrative reform across European countries. From 2019 to 2021, he held the position of President of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Athens. He has also worked in financial institutions of major economic groups in the United States and, since 1992, in the banking sector in Greece. He has held senior executive positions at Eurobank, Geniki Bank, and Piraeus Bank. He studied Economics at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. He obtained a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration, with specialisation in Regional Development, Political Science, and Econometrics. He later received a diploma from SS & C Zoologic Learning Solutions at Harvard University, excelling in advanced banking, financial theory, and practice.
