Bio Tim A. Mau (D.Phil., Oxford University) is Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on public management and administration and leadership, he has provided leadership training and development for senior public sector officials in Canada and across Asia (for the Asian Productivity Organization). His current research interests are primarily in the area of public sector leadership. He has published articles in Canadian and international journals and book chapters on a wide range of topics, including how the pursuit of a representative bureaucracy is a leadership issue, the adoption of public sector branding to enhance leadership capacity, the use of public sector leadership competency models, the Canadian model of public sector leadership, and leadership in the Canadian military. He is the co-author of Public Administration in Canada: Brief Edition. 2nd Edition. (Toronto: Thomson Nelson, 2017) and co-editor of three books on public administration and governance and corruption.

Dr. Mau has served as Associate Editor, Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editor of the International Journal of Public Leadership (Emerald Publishing) since May 2020 and is currently on the editorial board of Public Administration Review. He also served two terms (2023/2024) as the chair of the Public Leadership Member Community of the International Leadership Association and completed one term (2022-2025) on the board of management of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) and the Steering Committee of the International Commission on Accreditation of Public Administration (ICAPA). He was awarded the 2024 Pierre DeCelles Award for Excellence in Teaching by the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAPPA).
