IIAS-KSG Mombasa Conference 2024: Join the Conversation on International Collaborative Governance

Diogo Pereira,

The International Institute of Administrative Science (IIAS), in collaboration with the Kenya School of Government (KSG), is pleased to announce the forthcoming IIAS-KSG Mombasa Conference 2024, scheduled to take place from February 26 to 29 in Mombasa, Kenya. The event invites representatives from national and international institutions, public administration experts, public policy advocates, government leaders, scholars, university students, and interested individuals to explore the theme of "International Collaborative Governance.

In today's global landscape, where the challenges facing nations transcend borders, the IIAS-KSG Mombasa Conference 2024 serves as an intellectual platform for discussing contemporary public governance topics and aligns with the collaborative governance tradition in public administration, emphasizing the importance of solidarity at all levels and strengthened multilateralism.

Distinguished experts in the field, Dr. Younes Abouyoub (United Nations) and Dr. Tom Wanyama (KSG), will serve as the scientific chairpersons, ensuring that the discussions maintain both academic rigor and practical relevance.

This conference marks a significant return to Sub-Saharan Africa, reaffirming IIAS's commitment to the region. With member state countries such as Cameroon, Ethiopia, Kenya, Namibia, and South Africa, IIAS aims to attract more African countries to engage in discussions that shape global public administration.

In the words of Ra’ed Benshams, IIAS President, "In times of crisis, there are two options: fight or flight. It is the former path, courage not fear, action not submission, which IIAS resolutely suggests taking in the contemporary context: overcoming cultural and ideological differences, and engaging in collaborative governance across borders."

Mombasa, known for its history as a node of exchange on the Indian Ocean, and Kenya, at the forefront of African modernization, provide the perfect backdrop for this critical discourse.
