Diogo Pereira,

The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) has released the much-anticipated final report of the IASIA Conference 2022, held from July 25th to July 29th, 2022. Organized in collaboration with the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), the African Local Governments Academy (ALGA), and the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences - Agdal of Mohammed V de Rabat, the conference drew distinguished participants from across the globe.

Under the esteemed High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohamed VI, the IASIA Conference centered around the theme, "Implementing and Promoting Effective Governance Principles to Leave No One, No Place Behind." The discussions delved into the 11 Principles on Effective Governance, formulated by the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (UN-CEPA) and endorsed by ECOSOC for sustainable development.

Emphasizing the need for effectiveness in governance, the conference highlighted key components such as competence, sound policymaking, and collaboration. Accountability, with a focus on integrity, transparency, and independent oversight, was also underscored as a crucial aspect of effective governance. The concept of inclusiveness played a vital role throughout the discussions, highlighting the importance of non-discrimination, participation, subsidiarity, and intergenerational equity for the sustainability of future generations.

The final report serves as a comprehensive overview of the enriching exchanges that took place during the conference. It captures the perspectives of practitioners, academics, PhD students, young researchers in public administration and management, and contributors from various disciplines. Additionally, the report offers valuable insights for practitioners, lessons for education and training, and concluding remarks for each working group and panel.
